About the Opportunity  

Reporting directly to the Regional Manufacturing Operations Manager and with a dotted line into the Group EH&S structure, in this highly varied and responsible role you will take the lead to continually improve environment, health, safety, claims and injury management performance across the State in a sustainable manner.

You will achieve this by ensuring the development, implementation and maintenance of key EH&S and processes aligned to organisation requirement and legislative obligations.  This will be achieved primarily through specialist support and consultancy, training, coaching and support of local personnel and provision of technical advice.  The role supports Sales, Supply Chain (Manufacturing and Logistics) and Technical Services functions located in NSW.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of local EH&S procedures and the implementation of national EH&S requirements
  • Drive EH&S incident management processes through coaching and support to ensure timely reporting, recording, investigation, closing of corrective actions and sharing of learnings within the business
  • Drive EH&S risk management processes through coaching and support to ensure EH&S risk registers are established and risks are adequately controlled and prioritised within the State
  • Implement and monitor the national behavioural based safety program
  • Ensure that EH&S consultation and communication processes are established and effective within the State
  • Influence and oversee local EH&S committees and reviews to ensure their effective operation
  • Ensure EH&S management system certifications are maintained
  • Prepare monthly EH&S performance reports and advise on improvement areas
  • Coordinate legislative audits and reviews within the State
  • Advise on and recommend methods of meeting compliance requirements
  • Monitor compliance audit corrective action programs to ensure timely and effective close out of actions
  • Lead the completion of actions to address major compliance issues
  • Coordinate site communications with and reporting to regulatory authorities
  • Drive local EH&S improvement programs and provide regular status updates
  • Ensure EH&S training and induction requirements are met within the State, including maintenance of training records and licences


About You

  • Tertiary qualifications and/or relevant experience in Occupational Health & Safety or a relevant discipline
  • Experience with return to work and rehabilitation is an advantage
  • Familiarity with AS4801 and/or ISO14001 (or equivalent) preferred
  • Additional qualifications in Workplace Assessment & Training (Cert IV) will be highly regarded
  • Demonstrated experience in an EH&S Role in manufacturing environment and demonstrated performance improvement in OHS / Environment in an industrial environment
  • Demonstrated experience executing change in a traditional manufacturing / distribution environment
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with management and shop floor personnel, without direct line authority
  • Intimate knowledge of ISO and/or Safety Management systems and have extensive experience in their application in a complex manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of relevant Environmental, Workplace Health and Safety Legislation and Australian Standards
  • Experience with Behavioural-based Safety Programs, coordinating training programs and other continuous improvement programs will be highly regarded
