This role takes full accountability for assisting in managing all of Asahi Beverages direct and indirect tax obligations in Australia and abroad, including ensuring that all tax deliverables are prepared to a high quality, are technically accurate, delivered on time and are signed off in accordance with the group’s Tax Risk Management Framework.  This is a senior tax advisory role with some compliance aspects.  

 

Key responsibilities

 

Reporting to the Group GM – Tax, this is a critical ‘ roll your sleeves up’ role during a busy compliance period, where you will be expected to assist the business in meeting its tax compliance obligations and run the advisory division of the tax function. 

 

Your specific responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Responsible for leading and analysing technical and international aspects of the Australian income tax return, including for example the capital gains tax schedule, international dealings schedule, controlled foreign company calculations, thin capitalization calculations, TOFA, hybrids and the reportable tax position schedule.
  • Responsibility for overseeing the excise tax obligations of Asahi Beverages in APAC, including ensuring that all compliance deliverables are prepared to a high quality, are technically accurate, delivered on time and are signed off in accordance with the group’s Tax Risk Management Framework. 
  • Be the key tax contact for business projects and initiatives and provide accurate and timely tax advice on matters including legal contract reviews and business restructures (with support from external advisors, if required).
  • Assist in managing and overseeing tax audits and reviews in Australia and abroad, including undertaking pro-active risk assessments and implementing appropriate controls to mitigate risk.
  • Assist in managing the group’s participation in key global initiates such as BEP’s Pillar Two. 
  • Ensure the impact of new legislation is appropriately assessed to determine the impact on the company, ensuring that relevant stakeholders are kept informed.

 

About You

 

CA/CPA qualified, you will have extensive experience in a tax role with a large multinational or professional services firm, combined with the below;

  • Detailed knowledge of cross border tax issues
  • Exceptional analytical skills
  • Pro-active management and communicative style, with a strong capability for translating complex tax technical analysis into clear, articulate messages for non-tax stakeholders
  • Sound project management capability, exceptional time management skills & ability to work to strict deadlines.
