Finance Controller – The Better Drinks Company         


Your Impact

Reporting to the Head of Finance, Asahi Beverages New Zealand, you will provide strong business partnering to the teams, increase their business/financial acumen & drive value through providing timely, insightful and strategic support, whilst consistently delivering improvements in ways of working. You will take a commercial and strategic approach to all aspects of the business unit to ensure continued process improvements and efficiency gains to support future growth, including business partnering to the Head of The Better Drinks Company and wider leadership team leads.


This role will see you leading a team of dedicated finance resources and working collaboratively with key business partners to strategically deliver and support key finance objectives.


Key Responsibilities   


  • Provide the financial and strategic insights and direction for the business to deliver the 1YP, 3YP and 5YP plans
  • Consolidated P&L reporting, including managing the monthly finance timetable, monthly forecast, formal quarterly forecast and annual budget process for TBDC.  This includes managing the maintenance and rollover of the associated financial models and working capital reporting
  • Support the Head of Finance to regularly review performance of trade investment, commercial margin, Trade DMI, overheads and capital investment.  Ensure constant communication of results, as well as recommendation to assist in achieving targets
  • Lead the commercial IBP process by supporting sales to produce a reliable demand plan, advising on sales trends against promotional programs and business team input and provide commercial rigor to sales forecasting of NPD’s and innovations
  • Drive strategic thought leadership, to provide insightful input and challenging debate which stimulates a greater depth of discussion with stakeholders


  About You  


  • Graduate qualification of Bachelor of Commerce (or similar)
  • Post graduate qualification and membership of an appropriate professional body preferred but not essential (CA/CPA – or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 7+ years’ experience in financial roles
  • Experience working within a small-medium sized beverage company an advantage or FMCG environment especially within Grocery or similar channel is required
  • Demonstrable experience and knowledge of management reporting requirements/processes
  • Strong report writing and effective verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills with a high attention to detail, capable with Microsoft Excel and Access
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills including the ability to build relationships
  • Practical financial acumen and ability to grasp understanding of different market dynamics
  • Ability to work in a team or autonomously and be motivated to add value
  • Be comfortable presenting to different audiences within the business and taking ownership of areas of responsibility.
