The Head of Category & Channel Development plays a pivotal role in shaping long-term category growth strategies and translating them into actionable channel plans. This role supports the development of a compelling POP (Point of Purchase) vision that guides execution across a 3–5 year horizon, ensuring alignment between category ambitions and channel strategies to drive sustainable growth.

 

 

  • Category & Channel Strategy
    Lead the development and integration of the Category Growth Strategy into tailored Channel Strategies, ensuring alignment across core business processes like MTP, IBP, and Brand Planning.

 

 

  • Point of Purchase (POP) Vision
    Oversee the development and rollout of the POP Vision and Perfect Store Standards by channel and format, embedding these into go-to-market execution.

 

 

  • Strategic Commercial Alignment
    Drive cross-functional alignment by setting category priorities, supporting commercial planning cycles, and ensuring consistency across internal stakeholders.

 

 

  • Customer & Channel Planning
    Collaborate on Joint Business Planning with key customers by integrating shopper, category, and POP insights into tailored channel/customer strategies.

 

 

  • Insights & Research Leadership
    Manage external data partnerships (e.g., Nielsen, Dunnhumby) and translate insights into actionable strategies that inform category and channel growth plans.

 

 

  • Team Leadership & Development
    Lead and coach the Category Development & Perfect Store team, fostering capability building, performance development, and long-term succession planning.

 

 

About You

 

 

  • Commercial background in FMCG across Sales, Marketing, or Category functions

  • Proven ability to develop and execute category growth strategies across channels

  • Strong leadership capabilities with experience managing and developing high-performing teams

  • Confident engaging strategically with customers and influencing key stakeholders

  • Deep understanding of integrating category and customer strategies into commercial plans

  • Skilled in shopper-led execution, including Point of Purchase (POP) vision and range reviews

  • Commercially astute with strong business insight and a drive for results

  • Known for planning and aligning priorities, managing complexity, and making quality decisions

  • Agile and courageous, with a focus on continuous improvement and strategic impact

  • Customer-focused and persuasive, with a passion for delivering actionable insights
