Are you ready to take the lead in shaping operational excellence? We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Operations Lead to join our team in Tullamarine. This role is pivotal in managing Distribution Centre (DC) operations to deliver exceptional customer service, while upholding Asahi Beverages’ commitment to safety, quality, and cost efficiency.

As the Operations Lead, you will manage a team of four direct reports, ensuring seamless collaboration across key operational areas. You will also engage with both internal and external stakeholders to execute daily activities and achieve strategic goals. With opportunities to lead, influence, and present to larger teams, this role offers a platform for a strong communicator and a natural leader to make a significant impact.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with audit requirements, manage product withdrawals and recalls, and maintain accurate and regularly reviewed SOPs and work instructions.
  • Oversee labor costs, including overtime management, track and communicate cost metrics, and drive process improvement projects to achieve savings.
  • Coordinate daily planning, warehousing, and distribution activities to meet customer service standards. Collaborate with manufacturing to optimize production cycles, batch sizes, and maintenance schedules.
  • Develop productive relationships with supply chain partners, including customers, suppliers, and co-packers, to achieve win-win outcomes. Maintain strong connections with senior manufacturing and commercial stakeholders.
  • Manage and mentor your team, conduct performance reviews, develop talent, and implement change initiatives to enhance productivity and foster a high-performance culture.
  • Promote a safe workplace by complying with relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation. Drive continuous improvement in environmental management systems and address food safety concerns promptly.

 

About You

You are a skilled people leader with a passion for operations and team development. Whether you bring years of experience in a similar role or are eager to step into a challenging and rewarding leadership position, your ability to inspire, communicate, and resolve issues makes you the ideal candidate. In addition, you bring:

  • Experience in a similar role with a background in warehousing, logistics, or a similar field - ideally within FMCG or similar environment.
  • Experience managing teams, including conducting performance reviews and navigating difficult conversations.
  • Strong public speaking and written communication skills, with the ability to present confidently to large teams.
  • A strategic thinker who can influence change and implement effective solutions.
  • Training or experience in Lean, Six Sigma, or other improvement methodologies is desirable.
  • SAP experience is highly beneficial.
